Healthy Living Week
We held our Healthy Living Week from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th May 2016 and the sun shone on us all week.
We welcomed lots of outside providers, who worked with our pupils and delivered excellent, inspirational sessions. Whether dancing, zorb football, inclusive sports or walks in the countryside, our pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Our sincere thanks go to the following people who gave us their time to come into school and run sessions -
Dance - Sharon Cagirgan, Careers Wales - Sharon Rees, Inclusive Sports (MCC) - Paul Sullivan & Mark Howell, PSE - Lydia Foley, Fire Service - Dave Richards, Monkswood Cricket Club - Matt Bryant,
Countryside Guided Walks - Stephen Smith, Go Active - Sam Rushworth, Kieran Stephens & Andrew Foster,
Golf - Joe Vickery, Samba (Upbeat) - David Powell, Dr and Mrs Knowles, Athletics - Angela Jones,
Countryside Service - Susan Parkinson, Netball Umpires - Meryl Slaymaker & Sue Gray,
Football - Tim Grosvenor & Kerrie Grosvenor
During the week we wanted to cycle a velothon which is 140km and by the end of the week, thanks to our pupils, staff, governors, parents and lots of volunteers (including members of our local Community) we managed to cycle 645km (400 miles) which is more than 4 and a half velothons!
We measured one of our TA's steps over the 5 days whilst she was at school and she walked an astounding 42,266 steps which is approximately 18 miles!
Our week ended with a special assembly and some sports awards.
Many thanks to our fabulous guest speaker, rugby legend Gerald Davies.
