For those of you who are not familiar with FROGS, perhaps a quick explanation would be a good idea, as some of you may be thinking...why has a school got a web page specifically about FROGS?
To put your minds at ease, it isn't about the green long legged amphibians that frequent ponds and waterways...
the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at Goytre Fawr Primary School is known as FROGS (Friends and Relations of Goytre School).
As you will realise from the name, FROGS is not restricted to parents and teachers but includes anyone with an interest in our school, including grandparents, childminders, carers etc.
FROGS have been very succesful to date holding a variety of events throughout the year, to include Daffodil Tea, Quiz and Curry Nights, Shopping Trips and Christmas Fayres. The money raised has gone towards IT equipment, books and radio equipment. During previous years we have purchased the bike racks and boot scrapping mats.
The results of FROGS activities ensure that the school can buy equipment that it could not otherwise afford, and of course this has a direct effect on the childrens school experience. Support for FROGS can be anything from baking cakes, helping on a stall, donating raffle prizes to simply coming to an event.
You don't have to wait for events to help us raise money, we also have an easyfundraising account. Visit http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk click on 'find a cause' type in 'Goytre Fawr' and you should find us there. Alternatively click this link.
If you would like to assist in any way, or require any other information please contact the school reception or visit our facebook page 'Goytre Fawr School PTFA - FROGS'

Christmas Fayre 2017
Throughout 2015-2016, FROGS organised a number of events. We held a very successful Christmas Fayre, attended by parents, grandparents and members of our local community, which alone raised £998.15. A summer ball for all the children raised £432.00 and ‘daffodil tea’ held on the day of the Eisteddfod raised £311.39.
Other fundraisers included our Mother’s day and Father’s day shop, where this year the Mother’s day shop sold plants - kindly donated by Wendy Scotford of Nantyderry nurseries (our local garden centre), and for father’s day the children got to decorate mugs or key rings for their dads to keep. We also run a ‘cash for clothes’ scheme where a company pay us for unwanted clothes donated by parents and the local community.
Ice creams were sold during the summer term on Friday afternoons as the children leave school. This proved to be very successful and a children’s favourite!
The teachers are always consulted on the best way to spend the money raised, and this year they requested a number of items such as Numicom - £1,055.18, Oxford Reading Tree reading books - £893.85, a shed - £565.00, an amplifier and music books - £160.54.
We fund Year books for the Year 6 leavers, as a reminder of their days at Goytre school. As well as providing crackers for the Christmas lunches and Easter eggs for all the children.
As well as the teachers input, FROGS felt it was important that the money should be spent on things the children wanted, so the ‘Tadpoles’ were created. This is a small group of pupils who go around the school and list things they would like. They included things such as paint for the foundation phase toilets (lime green and lilac), sand toys, and picture frames to display photos on the walls.
In total during the academic year 2015-2016 we raised £3,233.04, which has boosted our bank balance to ensure that next year, with continued fundraising, we will be able to help both the teachers and Tadpoles alike to buy school equipment as required.
The Bottle Stall at the American Day (July 2015) raised over £300. Thank you to all for your continued support.
FROGS ran a competition to design a new logo in January 2014.
There were lots of entries and this is the overall winning entry designed by Caitlin Hughes (Year 6 - 2013/2014)
Keep an eye on this page as this is where we will post any news that we have about activities/meetings etc...
